Temperament
Spirited, independent, loyal, affectionate, sometimes stubborn, playful, clever, lively, love to give their humans kisses.
Care
Short-hair dachshunds are very easy to maintain. Their smooth, short coats provide them with the necessary oils to keep their skin from drying out. Limit bath time to keep skin happy.
Health
Their long backs and short legs make them easy to develop back issues. Due to this, it's important to make sure they are not jumping from couches, beds, etc. Doggie stairs are a great way to buffer this!
Training
Dachshunds are emotional dogs and do not like their owners being angry at them when they make mistakes. Positive and loving reinforcement is a great training tool. Use treats and "good dog" when they do something right. Consistency is key.
