Short-haired Dachshunds are known for their long, low-to-the-ground stature. They were originally bred for hunting badgers, which makes them exceptionally good at digging holes. They have a short, smooth coat that makes maintenance a breeze. Dachshunds are known for being loyal, playful, and affectionate towards their families. They can be very independent and stubborn, which makes socialization and training important! They are small but mighty watch dogs, making them bark to warn of any imposing threats ( like that pesky garbage man! lol!) They are lovers, not fighters, making positive reinforcement and lots of love a great way to train them. 

Due to having long backs and short legs, they can be prone to back problems. Making sure they don't jump off things like couches and beds a must. Doggie stairs are your friend!
